Imagined by Sinéad Flood and launched in 2017, the young label offers playful and deliciously nostalgic jewellery inspired by the late 1990s and early 2000s. Remember? Your mobile phones were clad in pink diamanté, your go-to 'fit always featured low-rise jeans, and you might even have been the owner of some stunning pink velour sweatpants. Inspired by this era of somewhat dubious fashion, Sinéad takes all the recklessness of the generation that shaped it and puts it into intrepid and surprising jewels. The aesthetic is super-girly and has something naïve and child-like about it. The tone is fierce and fun, and the palette is made up of pastels and downright garish hues, all with a distinctively bubble-gum feel. July Child stands out as the most irreverent British label in its category. Though all the jewellery is designed in the designer's Manchester apartment, the pieces are made in a small workshop with which she maintains constant contact, so she can make sure that July Child remains a close-knit company where every detail counts. The packaging, in particular, has been designed to be reusable, while the ring boxes take pride of place on your dressing table: in the shape of a shell, the boxes are as decorative as they are practical. Back to jewellery. After all, it's the pieces that have earned July Child its status as the cutest indie label around. Rings in gold or silver vermeil are adorned with stones cut into quirky, original shapes. A star, named Starstruck, comes in lime green or pastel blue, while a cloud with holographic reflections is set into a gold-coloured ring. Also in rhinestones, the Queen of Hearts ring is an irresistible gem, with a fuchsia pink heart topped by a crown and a small white crystal. July Child also offers enamelled pieces, such as the lilac Cosmic Alien, whose two citrines form the eyes of the cartoon-like character, as well as the adorable Dazed Flower.
