Miista

Worn by the likes of Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid, Miista easily wins the title of the coolest sustainable brand of the moment. We're used to ready-to-wear brands gradually expanding their collections to include accessories and shoes, but Miista's story was written in the opposite direction. In 2010, Laura Villasenin, a Spaniard originally from Galicia and now living in London, created a first pair of shoes that differed from what she was seeing in the shops. Their vintage vibes and modern, feminine twist earned them many accolades, and allowed the designer to found her own brand: Miista. It's a name that reflects the diversity of inspirations that contribute to Laura Villasenin's creative process. Passionate about music and art in general, her designs reflect the eclectic nature of her tastes, where electronic music meets colourful paintings, odes to 1960s fashion are juxtaposed with an irreverent nineties 'tude and a touch of the slightly OTT Y2K era. Miista succeeds in creating original pieces that impress fashion fans while adhering to sustainable values. Manufactured in workshops in Spain and Portugal, the pieces are designed in London and made from recycled materials via local production chains, with the onus on craftsmanship and people. Led by vintage-looking shoes that inject a touch of sensuality into the wardrobes of women today, Miista has established itself as one of the standout brands of its generation. Its many followers love to share pictures of their shoes on social media, and the London label’s feeds are characterised by a decadent sense of humour. Among Miista's flagship models are its clogs, from the classic-looking Hannah to the more elaborate Arlene, whose upper is made up of woven leather panels. Even more seductive, it is hard to resist the Miista heeled sandals: whether the Amber, Alberta, Yvonne, there's a model for every mood.
