Clergerie

Clergerie was born in 1981 at the initiative of design enthusiast, Robert Clergerie. Despite a ten-year career in the field of fashionable footwear, he took his time before founding his eponymous House. Determined to create shoes of the highest quality, he honed his technique and sense of style in a factory in Romans-sur-Isère that was renowned for its craftsmanship and expertise. It was also in Romans-sur-Isère, home of French shoemaking, that he eventually acquired a factory and its archives, some of which dated back to the previous century. After setting up shop, he quickly brought his sketches to life, signing them Clergerie. His ultra-technical designs are inspired by those with which he has previously worked, and which are memorable for their style, popular among Parisians in particular. Though the workshop and Clergerie style office are still located in the Drôme, the brand opened its first store in Paris’s super-chic sixth arrondissement, a stone's throw from Saint-Germain-des-Prés. The Clergerie approach is that of a classic French brand, of an impressive savoir-faire constantly challenged by a desire for innovation and new techniques, in constant pursuit of modernity. Forty years later, Maison Clergerie still wears its French colours with pride. While its elegant and cosmopolitan shoes are still made in the workshops that bore witness to the birth of the brand, Robert Clergerie has handed over the reins to master shoemaker David Tourniaire -Beauciel, already well-versed in luxury. Another footwear enthusiast, he has revamped the Clergerie brand by successfully playing with volumes and shapes, and by spotting tomorrow's trends - experimenting in particular with the architectural silhouettes of heels and soles. With its slightly retro air, Clergerie offers technical shoes that bring a welcome feeling of freedom to the modern women. With the Ninon boot, the Nina ankle boot, the Bano brogue and Elva sandal, simply choose the one that inspires you the most.
